Okay, Landry is really learning and enjoying school. He loves to buy his lunch. He thinks he is so grown up. He really likes his teacher and seeks her approval constantly. He has done really well. We are all still adjusting to getting up early, but I think it will be okay in about a year or two.
A couple of weeks before school started we asked Landry's principal, Ms. McNutt, if she would like to come over for dinner. I did this for two reasons: 1. I wanted Landry to get to know her. 2. She is one of my favorite people in the world. See, she was my 4th grade teacher. She loves me and I love her and that is why Landry is at her school. It is the absolute best school environment I could put Landry in. He was loved before he ever stepped foot in the door. Being loved means being cared for and payed attention to. He will not fall through the cracks and he will get the best education possible. That being said, let me tell you about Ms. McNutt's visit to our house.
She arrives to a little bit of hyperness. This is to be expected. We sat down to eat and my kids were not that interested in eating. They needed to run around and play. I try to allow my kids to be kids. They have to grow up soon enough, so I let them get their energy out and run around. At one point Landry was standing in the back yard, facing the house, making a high pitched screaming noise for a good 5 minutes. Sophie decided to take her clothes off and come to the dining table naked as a jaybird asking if she could put her swimsuit on and go to the beach. Anyone else might be embarrassed. I probably would have been if I didn't know Ms. McNutt so well. I can't imagine that she was embarrassed. As a matter of fact she probably expected that kind of behavior in my house. I don't think we will have the Principal of his Jr. High come eat with us, though.
